About Our Project

Ever want to build a bridge? The students in Room 3 did!  In this unit the students got to build various structures using everyday materials and objects.  They discovered how strong joints were constructed and the best materials to use for joiners. They learned the distinctive properties of some common solids, such as wood, paper and plastic and became aware of what made each one suitable for use as a building material. They learned to identify the weakness in a structure and suggest ways for making the structure stronger and more stable (i.e. by adding or joining parts to form triangles).
